[이승원의 ML 돋보기] 올 시즌 MLB 트레이드 총정리

올해 메이저리그에 트레이드는 활발했고 그만큼 거칠었다. 지난달 31일 트레이드 종료를 앞두고 활발히 진행된 트레이드 중 중요 이적 사항들을 現 샌디에이고 스카우트와 함께 짚어봤다. (모든 기록은 8월 16일 기준, 리스트는 해당 팀이 영입한 선수 목록)



먼저 피츠버그 파이어리츠는 큰 출혈 없이 아라미스 라미레즈와 현금을 획득했다. 물론 37세를 맞은 라미레즈의 전성기는 지난지 오래지만, 이 3루수는 조쉬 해리슨과 머서가 부상에서 복귀하기 전까지 팀에 힘과 베테랑으로서의 리더십을 불어 넣을 수 있다. 현재 라미레즈의 타율은 지난 16경기에서 3개의 2루타를 곁들여 2할2푼2리를 기록 중이다. 평가:B+

반면 밀워키 브루어스는 은퇴를 앞둔 라미레즈에게 많은 것을 기대하지 않았다. 대신 요나탄 베리오스를 끌어들이며 미래를 봤다. 올해 23세의 배리오스는 13번의 세이브 기회에서 11번 경기를 마무리 지었다. 40 ⅓이닝 동안 36피안타를 기록했고 삼진은 21개로 마무리로서 적은 편이다. 평가:B-



아메리칸리그 서부지구에서 LA 에인절스를 상대로 치열한 순위다툼을 벌이고 있는 휴스터 애스트로스. 애스트로스는 이번 트레이드로 휴스턴이 고향인 스캇 카즈미어를 영입하며 올스타 출신 투수 달라스 카이클에게 힘을 보태줬다. 스카우트는 “개인적으로 이번 휴스턴의 선택이 좋았다고 본다”고 말했다. 카즈미어는 올시즌 6승 5패 2.10의 평균자책점을 기록 중이며 휴스턴에서 선발로 나서 1승 2패 1.04의 평균자책점을 기록 중이다. 평가:A

오클랜드 애슬래틱스 빌리 빈 단장 역시 올시즌 계약 마지막 해인 카즈미어 카드를 적절히 활용했다. 2014년 4라운드 픽으로 휴스턴 유니폼을 입은 대니얼 맹덴은 클래스 A경기에 나서 88⅓이닝 동안 3.46의 평균자책점 84탈삼진 26볼넷을 기록 중인 유망주다. 오클랜드로 같이 건너온 제이콥 노팅햄은 겨우 20세로 싱글 A에서 3할2푼6리 14홈런 60타점으로 활약 중인 기대주다. 평가:B



캔자스시티는 최근 월드시리즈에 모습을 드러냈고 아메리칸 리그에서도 가장 뛰어난 기록을 남기고 있다. 곧 FA를 앞두고 있는 조니 쿠에토를 출혈을 감수하면서까지 영입하며 ‘대업’을 노리고 있다. 샌디에이고 관계자는 “누구나 알 듯, 쿠에토는 엄청난 실력을 가지고 있고, 캔자스시티를 끌어 올릴 능력이 있다”고 말했다. 유니폼을 갈아입은 쿠에토는 이후 3경기 선발로 나서 1승 1패 2.05의 평균자책점을 기록 중이다. 평가:A

레즈는 ‘에이스’ 쿠에토를 내주면서 3명의 좌완을 영입했다. 스카우트는 “이 3명 모두 메이저로 뛰어 오를 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있다”며 “어차피 곧 떠날 선수를 보내고 유망주 3명을 영입한 건 좋은 선택이었다”고 말했다. 평가:B+


LA 에인절스는 3명의 외야수를 각기 다른 팀과 트레이드 했다. 큰 기대를 받지 못하던 유망주를 내주고 보스턴 레드삭스로부터 빅토리노를, 클리블랜드 인디언스로부터 머피를, 템파베이로부터 데이빗 데헤수스를 건네 받았다. 알버트 푸홀스와 마이크 트라웃을 도와줄 좌타자가 절실했던 에인절스에겐 좋은 선택. 평가:B+



토론토 블루제이스는 콜로라도를 대표하는 유격수 트로이 툴로위츠키를 호세 레예스와 3명의 투수 유망주를 내주며 데려왔다. 우승을 갈망했던 툴로위츠키는 이미 아메리칸리그에서 가장 많은 득점을 올리고 있는 토론토의 강타선에 합류했다. 떠난 레예스와 비교했을 경우, 툴로위츠키는 수비면에서 토론토에 큰 힘을 실어다 줄 예정. 토론토 유니폼을 입고 2할2푼8리 3개의 홈런을 기록 중이다. 평가:A-

이번 딜로 로키스는 레예스와 투수 유망주를 받았다. 레예스는 예전 모습을 보여주지 못하고 있으나 계약 기간 면에선 툴로위츠키보다 좋다. 또한 2014년 1라운드 픽으로 뽑혔던 제프 호프먼과 만 20세 미구엘 카스트로를 받은 것도 큰 수확이다. 평가:B+



쿠에토로는 모자란 듯 보인다. 로얄즈는 목표를 위해 오클랜드 애슬래틱스로부터 벤 조브리스트를 영입했다. 스카우트가  “메이저리그 모든 팀들은 조브리스트처럼 다재다능한 선수를 원한다” 강조할 정도로 주전 2루수까지 바라볼 수 있는 자원이다. 또한 부상으로 빠져 있는 알렉스 고든의 빈자리도 메워줄 수 있다.

애슬레틱스는 보답으로 추후 2선발 또는 3선발 감인 션 매네아를 받았다. 좌완 투수인 매네아는 90마일 중반의 구속과 변화구가 일품이다. 매네아가 현 몸 상태를 유지할 경우 팀에 큰 도움이 될 것. 평가:A-




워싱턴 내셔널스는 베테랑 마무리 조나탄 파펠본을 필라델피아 필리스로부터 받았다. 현재 드류 스토렌이 제 몫을 해주고 있지만 지난해 포스트 시즌에서 샌프란시스코 자이언츠에게 9회 4실점하며 무너지는 모습을 보였고 큰 무대에서 믿음을 주지 못했다. 경험있는 마무리를 영입하는데는 성공했으나, 스토렌이 불만으로 팀웍에 금이 가는 것은 분명해 보인다. 평가:B-

필라델피아는 보답으로 선발 닉 피베타를 받았다. 피베타는 2013녀 4라운드 픽으로 팀에 들어왔다. 그는 90마일 중반의 직구를 구사하고 선발로 뛰어 오를 가능성까지 갖추고 있다. 여기에 필리스는 파펠본을 보내며 묶여 있던 계약 문제를 풀었다. 평가:B



콜 해멀스는 트레이드 데드라인을 앞두고 가장 이적 루머가 많았던 선수다. 텍사스가 필리스의 요구를 맞춰주며 영입에 성공했다. 이 트레이드의 승자는 단연 텍사스다. 조이 갈로와 노마 마자라 두명의 유망주를 지키면서 데려왔기 때문. 텍사스는 현재 와일드카드 경쟁전에서 밀리는 형국이나, 해멀스는 앞으로도 팀의 선발 한 축을 담당할 수 있는 자원이다. 해멀스는 팀을 옮긴 후 1패 5.93의 평균자책점을 남기고 있다. 평점:A

필리스는 답례로 맷 헤리슨을 비롯해 홀헤 알파로 등 5명의 유망주를 손에 넣었다. 뛰어난 유망주 들을 손에 넣었으나, ‘에이스’ 해멀스를 내주면서도 조이 갈로와 같은 슈퍼스타급 3루수를 영입하지 못했다. 스카우트는 “분명 필리스 쪽에서 갈로를 원했을 거지만 텍사스 레인저스는 거절했고 결국 그들의 뜻대로 돌아갔다”고 덧붙였다. 평가:C




이번 13명의 3각 스왑딜에선 다저스가 맷 라토스와 알렉스 우드 등을 선발로 보강할 수 있었다. 브론손 마로요를 포함해 2명의 투수에게 4500만달러라는 거금을 연봉으로 지급해야 하지만, 돈이 많은 다저스에겐 걱정거리가 아니다. 또한 유망주로 받은 호세 페라자도 언제든 메이저로 올라갈 수 있는 잠재력이 있는 선수다. 새로 영입한 라토스와 우드도 아직 제 몫을 못해주고 있으나 아직도 다저스는 지구 선두다. 평가:B-

애틀란타 브레이브스는 이번 트레이드를 통해 쿠바 출신 헥터 올리비에라와 좌완 계투 파코 로드리게즈를 받았다. 또한 토미존 서저리(팔꿈치 인대 접합수술)에서 회복 중인 아로요를 떨쳐냈다. 평가:B-

마릴린스는 이번 트레이드로 거액의 계약이 남아있는 마이클 모스와 맷 라토스를 보내고 그 대신에 세명의 유망주를 손에 넣었다. 평가:C+



블루제이스는 앞서 툴로위츠키를 영입한데 이어 데이빗 프라이스에게 공개적으로 구애했다. 아직도 리그에서 가장 NELDJSKS 투수 중 한명이고, 팀을 강력하게 만들어 줄 인재다. 프라이스는 팀을 옮긴 후 2승 1.61의 평균자책점을 남기고 있다. 평가:B+

타이거즈는 프라이스를 보내며 키스 로의 톱 50명의 유망주 순위에서 15위에 든 대니얼 노리스를 포함해 총 3명의 유망주 투수를 받았다. 평가:A-

Trade Deadline Grades

This year’s MLB trade deadline was a wild and active one. I’ve graded and explained briefly on every key move made this past week. I’ve interviewed a current executive for the San Diego Padres for the help of breaking down the deals on July 31, 2015.

The Pirates received Aramis Ramirez and cash while not giving up much. Although Ramirez is well past his prime, the 37-year-old third baseman will provide power and veteran leadership until Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer come back from injuries. He is currently batting .222 with three doubles in 16 games since coming over to the Pirates. Grade: B+

The Brewers knew they couldn’t get much for the soon to be retired, Aramis Ramirez, and they received Yhonathan Barrios. The 23-year-old Barrios has 11 saves in 13 opportunities this season in Triple-A. He has allowed 36 hits in 40 1/3 innings, but has only 21 strikeouts. He figures to a fringe bullpen option in the future. Grade: B- 

Fighting for the AL West against the Angels, the Astros acquired hometown pitcher Scott Kazmir, who joins All-Star starter Dallas Keuchel atop the Astros’ rotation. “I personally love this move by Houston as they are going all in,” the Padres executive said. Kazmir is 6-5 with a 2.10 ERA so far in the season. He is 1-2 with 1.04 ERA in four starts with the Astros. Grade: A

The Oakland Athletics and Billy Beane did well here with Kazmir, who was in the final year of his deal. Mengden, a fourth-rund pick by Houston in 2014, has a 3.46 ERA with 84 strikeouts and 26 walks in 88 1/3 innings of work in Class A this season. Asl for Nottingham, he is still just 20 years old and has really come into his own this year in Single-A ball. Nottingham has hit .326 in 76 games with 14 home runs and 60 RBI. Grade: B

Coming off a World Series appearance and having the best record in the American League, the Royals decided to trade for a free-agent-to-be Johnny Cueto. “Obviously, Cueto has a great stuff and he could be the piece that puts Kansas City over the top this season,” the Padres scout said. He is 1-1 with 2.05 ERA since the trade with the Royals in three starts. Grade: A

The Reds acquired three left-handed pitchers in return for moving ace Johnny Cueto, a free agent after this season. “All three of them have a chance to make it to the Majors,” the executive said. “They did quite well getting three prospects for a guy who was going to leave after this season anyways.” Grade: B+

The Angels traded for three outfielders in three separate deals. Victorino from Boston, Murphy from Cleveland and David DeJesus from Tampa. They didn’t give up much to get all those three players. The Angels received much needed left-handed bats to support Albert Pujols and Mike Trout. Grade: B+

The Blue Jays added star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in a deal that sent Jose Reyes and three pitching prospects to Colorado. Tulowitzki joins a potent lineup in Toronto that leads the American League in runs scored already. Tulowitzki is a huge upgrade on the defensive side than Reyes, who has lost a step or two. He is batting .228 with three homeruns since coming over to Toronto. Grade: A-

Jose Reyes and three pitching prospects join the Rockies in this deal. Reyes is not the same player he once was but his contract is shorter than Tulowitzki’s. Plus, they receive two pitchers I really like, in 2014 first-round pick Jeff Hoffman and 20-year-old Miguel Castro. Grade: B+

After adding Johnny Cueto, the Royals continued their push by adding versatile Ben Zobrist. “Every team would love someone like Zobrist as he is so versatile,” the executive said. Zobrist could ultimately become their second baseman but he will also help out in the outfield with Alex Gordon out with an injury.

The Athletics are receiving two pitching prospects and one of them has a chance to be a no. 2 or no. 3 starter in the future, in Sean Manaea. The left-hander throws in the mid 90’s with a power breaking ball. If everything comes together and stays healthy, Manaea has a good quality upside. Grade: A-

The Nationals receive an experienced closer in Jonathan Papelbon. Washington already has Drew Storen, who has converted 29-31 saves opportunities but wanted someone who is experienced in the postseason as Storen had a meltdown last year, giving up four runs in the ninth inning against the San Francisco Giants. It could mess up the chemistry of the team however as Storen is obviously not too satisfied about being demoted from the closing job. Grade: B-

The Phillies receive a starting pitcher, Nick Pivetta, who was a fourth-round pick in 2013. Pivetta throws in low 90’s with his fastball and is a potential backend starter in the future. Plus, the Phillies get rid of the contract of Jonathan Papelbon for next year. Grade: B

Cole Hamels has been the most-rumored name at the deadline and Texas Rangers were able to put together a good enough offer the Phillies. The Rangers clearly win this trade because Texas did not give up their two best prospects, Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara. Hamels’ contract, which was already a market valued given his talent, received cash to help Texas pay the lefty. Although the Rangers remain on the fringe of this year's wild-card race, they also will be counting on Hamels atop their rotation for years to come. Hamels is 0-1 record with 5.93 ERA with the Rangers so far. Grade: A

Major leaguer Matt Harrison and five prospects, including highly touted catcher Jorge Alfaro and right-hander Jake Thompson, will join the Phillies in the mega-deal. They added some nice prospects but Texas still has Joey Gallo, the third baseman with tremendous power. If you are giving up an ace like Cole Hamels, it is almost necessary to get a superstar potential guy like Gallo. “I am sure the Phillies asked for Gallo and the Rangers said no. Then, wait until the last minute and see what the Rangers say,” the scout said. Grade: C-

“In a 13-player swap with the Marlins and Braves, the Dodgers bolstered their pitching staff by adding starters Mat Latos and Alex Wood to the rotation,” the executive mentioned above said. “Los Angeles took a bad contract of Bronson Arroyo and are paying the two starting pitchers 45 million dollars, which I thought was a bit too much but the Dodgers have all the money in the world.” None of the four minor leaguers given up by the Dodgers are too highly ranked. Jose Peraza, the prospect the Dodgers received from the Braves, is talented enough to make it to the Majors. Both Latos and Wood have not been great so far but the Dodgers are still in the first-place in front of the Giants. Grade: B-

The Braves receive the Cuban infielder, Hector Olivera and left-handed reliever Paco Rodriguez. Atlanta also was able to get rid of Bronson Arroyo, who is rehabbing from a Tommy John surgery. Grade: B-

The Marlins received three low-level pitching prospects while getting rid of the contract of Michael Morse for Mat Latos. Grade: C+

The Blue Jays, after trading for Troy Tulowitzki earlier, addressed their biggest need with David Price. One of the best pitchers in the game still, will make the Blue Jays potent and dangerous for the rest of the year. Price has been stellar in three starts with Toronto so far with 2-0 record and 1.61 ERA. Grade: B+

The Tigers received three nice pitching prospects including Daniel Norris, who was No. 15 in Keith Law's midseason top 50 prospects. Grade: A-
