[ML 스카우트의 메이저스토리] 2016시즌 지구별 우승팀 예상

아메리칸리그 서부지구 : 휴스턴 애스트로스

그들은 젊기에 거침 없고, 패기 넘친다.

휴스턴은 지난 시즌 ‘가을야구’를 하면서 카를로스 코레아, 호세 알투베, 조지 스프링어 등이 젊은 핵심선수로 올라오면서 길고 끔찍했던 리빌딩을 마침내 끝냈다.

그러나 휴스턴이 서부지구에서 텍사스 레인저스나 시애틀 매리너스보다 앞서는 것이 이 부분 뿐만은 아니다. 특히 지난해 사이영상 수상자 댈러스 카이클이 이끄는 선발진이나, 지난해 젊은 나이에 113경기 나와 평균자책점 1.56을 기록한 새로운 마무리투수 켄 자일스 또한 휴스턴의 무기가 될 수 있다.

아메리칸리그 중부지구 : 캔자스시티 로얄스

지난해 메이저리그 월드시리즈 우승 팀인 캔자스시티 로얄스는 최적의 선수 중 한 명인 알렉스 고든과 팀 친화적 계약인 4년 7200만원에 재계약을 맺었다. 이 외에도 골든 글러브 수상자인 에릭 호스머, 살바도르 페레즈, 로렌조 케인 그리고 알시데스 에스코바가 2016 시즌을 준비하고 있다.

캔자스시티에 있어 가장 큰 물음표는 지난해 아메리칸리그 동부에서 가장 적은 이닝을 소화한 선발진이다. 대표적인 이닝이터인 이안 캐네디가 건재하지만, 여전히 캔자스시티에 대한 선발진은 물음표가 많다. 그러나 메이저리그에서 가장 좋은 불펜을 가지고 있는 만큼 2016시즌에도 지구 우승을 노려볼 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

아메리칸리그 동부지구 : 토론토 블루 제이스

지난 4년간 아메리칸리그 동부지구는 매년 우승자의 자리가 바뀌었다. 2012년 뉴욕 양키스가 우승했고, 2013년 보스턴 레드삭스, 2014년 오클랜드 어슬래틱스, 2015년 토론토 블루제이스가 정상 자리에 올랐다.

그러나 아메리칸리그 동부지구에서의 혼전은 토론토로 인해 종료될 것으로 보인다. 지난시즌 중반 영입했던 데이비드 프라이스가 지구 경쟁팀인 보스턴으로 갔지만, 지난 9월 복귀해 4경기 4승 평균자책점 1.67을 기록한 마커스 스트로먼이 있다.

아메리칸리그 와일드카드 후보 : 1. 디트로이트 타이거즈 2. 텍사스 레인저스

디트로이트 타이거즈는 저스틴 업튼과 조던 짐머맨을 영입하면서 다시 플레이오프 자리를 두고 경쟁할 수 있는 준비가 됐다.

텍사스 레인저스는 다르빗슈 유가 2선발로 적합한 콜 하멜스를 밀어내고 '에이스'로 복귀를 준비하고 있다. 공격에서는 프린스 필더, 애드리안 벨트레, 추신수와 같은 베테랑들이 이끌것으로 보인다.

내셔널리그 서부지구 : 애리조나 다이아몬드백스

내셔널리그 서부지구는 3파전으로 전개될 것으로 보인다. 샌디에이고 파드리스와 콜로라도 로키스에게는 미안한 이야기이지만, 모든 초점은 LA 다저스, 애리조나 다이아몬드 백스(이하 디백스), 샌프란시스코 자이언츠에 맞춰질 전망이다.

디백스는 내셔널리그 서부지구 우승자 LA 다저스로부터 잭 그레인키를 총액 2억 650만달러에 영입하는데 성공했다. 뿐만 아니라 애틀란타 최전방에서 잠재력을 보였던 셀비 밀러를 팀 내 1~2위를 다투는 유망주 중 한 명인 앤더 인샤트와 트레이드로 영입했다.

폴 골드슈미트, AJ 폴락 그리고 데이비드 페랄타는 타선을 더욱 강력하게 할 것이다. 또한 수비에서 그들은 득점 저지 2위를 기록했다.

디백스의 불펜, 특히 마무리 투수 자리는 브래드 지글러를 개막전 마무리 투수로 낙점하면서 물음표가 있다. 사이드암 투수인 지글러는 대부분의 마무리투수처럼 95마일의 공을 던지지 못한다. 그러나 그는 지난해 30세이브 1.85의 평균자책점을 기록했다.

내셔널리그 동부시구 : 시카고 컵스

내셔널리그 서부지구와 마찬기록 시카고 컵스, 세인트루이스 카디널스, 피츠버그 파이어리츠 3파전으로 진행될 것으로 보인다.

그러나 컵스는 인상적이고 젊은 핵심선수라는 강력한 무기가 있다. 지난해 내셔널리그 신인왕을 받은 크리스 브라이언트와 유격수 애디슨 러셀, 그리고 타격이 좋은 카일 스와버, 5툴 플레이어인 조지 솔러 등이 성장을 거듭하고 있다.

말할 필요도 없이 리그 최고의 1루수 중 한 명인 앤서니 리조와 새로 영입한 제이슨 헤이워드, 벤 조브리스트도 있다.

투수진에서는 사이영상을 받았던 제이크 아리에타를 비롯해 존 레스터, 존 래키가 로테이션 자리를 지킬 것이다.

내셔널리그 동부 : 뉴욕 메츠

메츠는 2016년 내셔널리그를 비롯해 리그 최고의 선발진을 가지고 있다. 맷 하비, 노아 신더가드, 제이콥 디그롭으로 1~3선발이 구성되고, 4,5선발 인상적인 활약을 펼쳤던, 스티브 매츠와 토미존 수술 후 복귀 가능성을 높인 잭 휠러가 있다.

공격에 나설 때는 쉴 틈이 없다. 요에니스 세스페데스를 비롯해 2년 차 좌익수 마이클 콘푼토와 같이 공격에서 꾸준하고 결정적인 역할을 해줄 선수이 있다. 2014년 메츠의 신인 1순위로 뽑힌 콘푼토는 메이저리그 적응 시간 없이 지난 여름부터 나와 56경기에 나와 9개의 홈런과 0.841의 OPS를 기록했다.

내서널리그 와일드카드 : 1. 샌프란시스코 자이언츠 2. 세인트루이스 카디널스

샌프란시스코 또한 지난시즌 말부터 굵직한 행보를 보였다. 구단은 제프 사마자와 디나드 스판을 영입해 로스터를 채웠고, 초대형 선수 조니 쿠에토까지 영입했다. 한가지 덧붙이면, 그들은 짝수해에 가을야구를 해왔다.

세인트루이스는 이기는 방법을 알고 있다. 아담 웨인라이트가 부상을 털고 돌아왔고, 트레버 로젠탈과 오승환을 보유하고 있는 불펜은 리그 정상급인 만큼 와일드카드 한 자리를 잡을 수 있을 전망이다.

MLB Division Winners Predictions

AL West: Houston Astros
They are young, wild and scary.
The long and dreadful rebuild for Houston was finally over last season as they made it to October baseball with the young core of players including the likes of Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and George Springer.
But it's not just the group of position players that the Astros get the nod over clubs like the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners. It is also the arms as especially reigning AL Cy Young winner, Dallas Keuchel leading the starting rotation and new closer Ken Giles, who has a 1.56 ERA in 113 games in his young career.

AL Central: Kansas City Royals
MLB’s reigning champs brought back their one of the best position players, Alex Gordon, locking him up to a team-friendly four-year deal worth $72 million dollars. Along with the gold-glover, the organization will rely on young corps of bats, Eric Hosmer, Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar for another run in 2016.
The biggest question with this club is its rotation as they threw fewest innings in AL last year. One of the best innings eaters, Ian Kennedy, was signed to fix that issue but the rotation still has some question marks. However, with the best bullpen in MLB, the Royals seem to be destined for another division title in 2016.

AL East: Toronto Blue Jays
Last four years, AL East had four different champs each year: Blue Jays in 2015, O's in 2014, Red Sox in 2013, Yankees in 2012.
The trend will be ended with baseball mashing Toronto Blue Jays repeating as the AL East Champs. They lost their mid-acquisition David Price, to a division rival Red Sox, but they will have Marcus Stroman back, who was brilliant in a four-start cameo (1.67 ERA) last September.

AL Wild Card: 1. Detroit Tigers 2. Texas Rangers
With the acquisitions of Justin Upton and Jordan Zimmerman, the Tigers are reloaded and ready to compete again for a spot in the playoffs.
Texas Rangers will have their ace back in Yu Darvish pushing Cole Hamels to a more suitable No.2 starter. Offense will be led by the likes of veterans, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, Choo Shin-Soo.

NL West: Arizona Diamondbacks
The National League West is likely to be a 3-team race. With apologies to San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies, all of the attention will be focused on the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants.
The Diamondbacks stole Zack Greinke from the reigning NL West champs, Los Angeles Dodgers, with a $206.5 million check. Not only that, Shelly Miller, who has the potential to be a front-line guy from the Braves, for two of the top prospects and Ender Inciarte.
Paul Goldschmidt, AJ Pollock and David Peralta make the line-up potent and their defense ranked second in runs saved last year. Their bullpen, especially the closer role is a question mark with a non-conventional Brad Ziegler listed as the opening-day closer. The side-arm reliever does not throw 95 MPH like the most closers but with a non-conventional but he gets the job done converting 30 saves last year with 1.85 ERA.

NL Central: Chicago Cubs
Like the NL West, the Central is also a 3-team sprint with Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburg Pirates.
But the Cubs have an edge with their impressive young core of players. Not only do they have reigning NL rookie of the year in Kris Bryant, shortstop Addison Russell and sweet-hitting Kyle Schwarber, five-tool player Jorge Soler are beyond remarkable.
Not to mention, one of the best first-basemen in the league in Anthony Rizzo and new acquisitions, Jayson Heyward and Ben Zobrist.
On the pitching side, reigning NL Cy Young winner, Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester and Jon Lackey show the way for the back end of rotation guys.

NL East: New York Mets
With the best rotation in MLB, they are the team to beat in the whole National League in 2016. Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom are at the top of the rotation but the bottom part is just as impressive with Steven Matz and potential comeback from a Tommy John, Zack Wheeler.
Don’t sleep on their offense though with Yoenis Cespedes and another Met who will play a crucial role in keeping the attack rolling is sophomore left fielder Michael Conforto. The 2014 top pick wasted no time adjusting to major league life last summer, hitting nine homers and putting up an .841 OPS in 56 games.

NL Wild Card: 1. San Francisco Giants 2. St. Louis Cardinals
The Giants have also been bold since the end of last season. The front office brought Jeff Samardzija and Denard Span to their roster, but the biggest acquisition was Johnny Cueto. Plus, it is an even year so of course, they have to be part of the October baseball.
St. Louis Cardinals just know how to win. With Adam Wainwright coming back and their bullpen being one of the best in the league with Trevor Rosenthal and Oh Seung-Hwan, they will grab one of the wild card spots.
