아프리카TV, 세계 당구 관계자 만나 산업 발전 위한 협력 방안 논의

[엑스포츠뉴스 황성운 기자] 아프리카TV는 지난 6월 29일 포르투 3쿠션 월드컵이 열리고 있는 포르투 현장에서 세계 당구 협회•단체 관계자, 용품사 대표들과 만나 세계 당구 산업 발전을 위한 협력 방안을 논의했다. 

이날 자리에는 프랑코 피데나(콜롬비아 올림픽 위원회 위원, 판아메리카당구연맹 부회장)를 비롯해 허버트 투어(UMB 사무국장, 오스트리아 당구 연맹 회장), 장 피에르 귀라드(유럽당구연맹 사무국장), 파룩 엘 바르키(세계당구연맹회장, UMB 회장), 페르난도 레쿠나(세계당구연맹이사, UMB 부회장), 이민원(아프리카TV 소셜미디어 사업부문장) 등이 참여했다. 

이날 아프리카TV는 플랫폼에 대한 소개와 함께 향후 당구 사업 전반에 대한 계획을 관계자들과 공유했다.

아프리카TV 이민원 소셜미디어사업부문장은 “당구 산업 성공의 키(Key)는 모든 관계자들의 신뢰를 바탕으로 하는 파트너십을 가져야 한다고 생각한다"며 "세계 당구 산업 발전을 위해 더 많은 논의를 할 수 있길 희망하며, 아프리카TV는 언제나 진정성 있게 소통하겠다"고 말했다.

이에 파룩 엘 바르키 UMB 회장은 "아프리카TV와 두 차례 월드컵을 진행하며, 당구 발전을 위한 파트너십을 확인했다"며 “UMB, 아프리카TV 그리고 파이브앤식스는 굳건한 상호간의 신뢰를 바탕으로 공동의 목표를 추구할 것”이라고 화답했다. 

유레카 테이블의 대표이자 베겔 월드컵 조직위원장인 해리 마타이슨은 “앞으로 아프리카TV와 세계 당구 스포츠의 발전을 위해 당구 용품 제품 관련 협력뿐만 아니라 현실적이고 실현 가능한 다양한 협업을 기대한다”고 말했다.

아프리카TV는 1일 세계적인 당구 용품 기업인 프레데터의 카림 벨하즈 대표와도 미팅을 가졌다. 카림 벨하즈 대표는 “아프리카TV와 당구 산업의 미래 비전에 대한 의견이 잘 맞는 것을 확인할 수 있었다”며 “당구 용품 산업 분야 외에도 세계적 대회의 공동 개최와 콘텐츠 방송 등 확장된 영역에서 사업적 협력을 열어 놓겠다”고 말했다.

아프리카TV는 ‘호치민 3쿠션 월드컵’, 포르투 3쿠션 월드컵’ 등을 독점 생중계하며 다양한 당구 콘텐츠 방송을 진행해 오고 있다. 8월 중에는 한국에서 개최 예정인 월드 3쿠션 서바이벌 대회에서 이와 관련한 비전 발표를 진행할 계획이다.

AfreecaTV spoke out their vision for the world billiards sport future in their general business plan concerning the sport with their introduction of the global streaming platforms of AfreecaTV and shared their ideas with the relevant important people in the meeting.

Mr. Minwon LEE, the CEO of Social-media Business headquarter said “We strongly believe that the key of the success in the world billiards sport industry must be based on the partnership of sincere trust among us so we hope to consistently ommunicate one another and AfreecaTV will communicate with all with sincere trust.”

Concerning the comment of Mr. Minwon LEE, Mr. Farouk Barki, the President of WCBS & UMB said “UMB is clearly convinced that Afreeca TV and UMB will have the concrete partnership to develop the world billiards sport as one of the majors by cooperating with them in the recent 2 world cups of UMB.” He also mentioned “UMB, AfreecaTV and Five&Six will pursue the same goal for our sport in the sincerest trust where nothing can be in our way until we make our common goal be realized.

Mr. Harry Mathiessen, the CEO of Eureka & the organizer of Veghel World 3-Cushion of UMB said that he expects much more realistic & feasible collaboration in the business concerned as well as cooperation for the billiards equipment to advance the world billiards sport in the future with AfreeecaTV.

Even on the morning of July 1, AfreecaTV had a meeting with Mr. Karim Belhaj, the CEO of Predator, one of the biggest billiards company in the world & the Organizer of Las Vegas World Cup 3-Cushion of UMB. Mr. Belhaj said “I’m assured that AfreecaTV has the same vision for the future of the sport industry so I will open to the expanded business cooperation with AfreecaTV not only discussing the equipment industry of the sport but also co-organizing the world class events including broadcasting the billiards contents worldwide.”

AfreecaTV have streamed a variety of the 3-cushion billiard contents through exclusive live streaming the matches of Ho Chi Minh City World Cup 3-Cushon & Porto World Cup 3-Cushion of UMB. AfreecaTV will make the announcement of their vision of the sport during the World 3-Cushion Survival 2023 to be held this August.
